Current Situation

Fallen leaves are scattered everywhere. Left alone, these leaves become food for millipedes.

Lots of leaves have also gotten under the wood deck.

The parking area is covered in leaves too.

The trees and branches we cut down have dried out and withered.

When millipedes broke out in large numbers last autumn, lots of them gathered here. The mortar work is very sloppy, so I’d like to fill it in properly.

This is a part you don’t see in everyday life, so the finish is rough.

It looks like they are getting in through the relief cut (backsplit) in the posts. There are millipede droppings stuck in this gap and scattered around the area.

These posts sit on top of the house’s foundation, so if millipedes come in through the foundation vents, they can climb these posts and get into the living space.

Countermeasures

It was colder than I expected and I didn’t feel like working, so I just cleared the leaves with a blower and called it a day.
